Australia’s Child Healthcare & Support by State / 子どもの医療・州ごとの比較

In the previous article, we explored Australia’s overall child healthcare system—Medicare, insurance, and the “No Jab, No Play” vaccination policy.
While these systems are nationwide, actual child health services, check-ups, and emergency responses differ by state.
前回の記事で紹介したオーストラリア全体の子ども医療制度（Medicare・保険・No Jab, No Playなど）を紹介しました。しかし、サポート内容・健診体制・救急サービスは州ごとに異なります。

We’ll focus on the most popular migration destinations: Sydney (NSW), Melbourne (VIC), and Brisbane/Cairns (QLD).
この記事では、移住先として人気の高いシドニー（NSW）・メルボルン（VIC）・ブリスベン／ケアンズ（QLD）を中心に、子ども医療のサポート体制の違いを整理します。

Early Childhood Health Centres offer free growth and parenting consultations in each local area.
Child Health Nurses visit families after birth to provide in-home support.
各地域に Early Childhood Health Centre があり、成長チェックや育児相談を無料で受けられます。
新生児期には Child Health Nurse による訪問サポートもあります。

The No Jab, No Play policy is strictly enforced. AIR (Australian Immunisation Register) proof is required for childcare enrolment.
No Jab, No Play が厳格に運用され、入園時に AIR（Australian Immunisation Register） での証明が必須です。

Ambulance services are fee-based. Residents are encouraged to subscribe to Ambulance Cover.
救急車は有料で、Ambulance Cover への加入が推奨されています。

Services like Health Centres and the 24-hour healthdirect hotline (1800 022 222) are available regardless of visa type.

The Maternal and Child Health Service (MCHS) provides continuous support from birth to school age, including development checks and parenting groups.

No Jab, No Play applies statewide. AIR vaccination proof is required for childcare enrolment.
No Jab, No Play が適用されており、接種記録の提出が入園時に義務づけられています。

Ambulance services are fee-based. Most residents subscribe to Ambulance Victoria membership.
救急車は有料で、Ambulance Victoria への加入が一般的です。

MCHS is accessible to all residents regardless of visa status. Long-term visa holders can continue regular check-ups.
MCHS は居住登録をしていればビザに関係なく利用可能です。長期滞在者なら定期チェックを継続できます。

Child Health Nurses provide growth and development checks. Local Child Health Clinics and the 13HEALTH hotline (24 hours) offer free advice.
Child Health Nurse による健診・発達相談があります。各地に Child Health Clinic があり、電話相談 13HEALTH も24時間対応です。

The No Jab, No Play policy applies statewide. Vaccines are free under the national schedule.
No Jab, No Play が適用されています。全国スケジュールに基づき無料で接種可能です。

Ambulance services are free for Medicare holders (citizens/permanent residents).
Medicare 対象者（永住者・市民）は救急車が無料です。

Temporary residents (e.g., subclass 482 visa holders) are not covered and need private ambulance insurance.
一方、Subclass 482など一時移住者は対象外で、有料の Ambulance Cover（民間保険） で備えるのが一般的です。

Health consultations and immunisations are free.
Emergency care is available to everyone, but costs depend on OVHC/OSHC coverage.
子どもの健康相談・予防接種は無料で利用可となっています。
救急医療はビザを問わず受けられますが、費用は加入している保険（OVHC／OSHC）の補償範囲によって異なります。

Australia also has child health record books similar to Japan’s Maternal and Child Health Handbook.
Each state has its own version, distributed free to babies born in that state.
オーストラリアにも日本の母子健康手帳に相当する記録冊子があります。
ただし州ごとに名称・デザインが異なり、その州で出生した子どもに無料で配布されます。

• NSW：Blue Book
• VIC：My Health, Learning and Development Record (“Green Book”)
• QLD：Red Book

For children born overseas, families can ask Child Health Services about obtaining a record booklet, but it is not issued automatically.
海外出生児の場合は Child Health Service に相談すれば記録用として発行してもらえることもありますが、自動配布の対象外です。

Translated Japanese maternal and child health handbooks are useful for submitting vaccination records to GPs or Child Health Nurses.
日本の母子手帳を英訳して持参すれば、予防接種記録を GP や Child Health Nurse に提出する際にも役立ちます。

Australia’s child healthcare system is nationwide, but the way families access support and emergency care differs by state.
オーストラリアの子ども医療制度は全国共通ですが、サポートの受け方や救急体制は州によって異なります。

When planning your move, research not only the healthcare system but also the specific support services available in your chosen region.
移住を考える際は、医療制度そのものよりも、「その地域でどんな支援を受けられるか」を確認しておくと安心です。
